When I met Nicola and Jeff last year (conveniently on the Toucan Patio – the sight of many of their dates I was told) we hit it off pretty quickly over a pint (maybe two). They said they were going to have a live band at their wedding and were both former cheerleaders and avid swing dancers so I should expect a pretty hopping dance floor. Uhhh… they weren’t joking about that either!
From their first look before the ceremony the smiles on their faces were constant for the rest of the day/night. High fives were abundant and laughter permeated the hall as their friends and family discussed the finer points of their shared love of Dr. Who and Nicola’s love of Harry Potter. When we adjourned outside for the ‘entire wedding guest’ photo after the ceremony their floofy-dog was a surprise guest waiting to greet her with kisses (it was hard to tell who was more excited at that point)
Their choreographed first dance was one of the best I’ve ever seen in person; not only at a wedding but just people dancing in general. There was some worry about Nicola’s shoes being too slippery for the parquet flooring at Ban Righ which resulted in Jeff almost punching her in the face by accident during rehearsals the evening before but it all went off without a hitch and no one was injured thankfully. Immediately after dinner the dancefloor was jammed and while guests took turns cutting in and having a whirl with the Bride.
An incredible launch to my 2016 wedding season, the Boogers (a hilarious combo of their last names which was also the wedding hashtag #herecometheboogers) had a tremendous party and I was completely honored to be part of the day.
