I’m down to my last batch weddings of the season so I figured it was time I started blogging 2017 weddings! My intention was to do the same as I did last year and blog a wedding shortly after it was completed but the best laid plans are easily washed away when you get 10 weddings into the season and forget what you wanted to do because you’re so into editing that you just want your couple to get their images and stop caring about blogging.
April weather can be hit or miss and we got both hits and misses that day. Overcast to start the day, a little bit of sun and clear skies for part of the afternoon as Alex did his best to not cry as he saw Kerry walk down the aisle even after they had a first look! (THAT’S love!) Walking down the stairs to find Alex waiting for her you could feel his anxiousness until the moment he turned around and saw his beautiful bride waiting for him with a giant grin on her face.
Kerry and Alex met while studying at Queen’s University and decided that coming back this way for their wedding was a great idea. We met for pints and chatted about their plans, their love story and their life in Toronto where they call home these days. The Ivy Lea Club was the plan, late April was the date and fun, candid storytelling was their search criteria for a photographer.
Set on the water with a series of beautiful buildings, the second floor served as a ceremony venue with a beautiful view of the St. Lawrence River in the background. With a large space for everyone to get ready in the ladies had a champagne fueled dance party while hair and make up were in full swing.
NOTE: anyone’s vows that include a hockey reference and words of wisdom from Yoda wins me over every damned time and Kerry and Alex sure won me over.
Here’s a few of my favorite images from the day:
