I’ve lived in Kingston for the a little more than 20 years now and Rob was one of the first people I met in the local music scene when I moved here… Playing one of my first shows as a Kingstonian we had him on monitors and oh boy was it awesome. We’ve worked a bunch of shows together since and he’s been the monitor eng and drum tech for the Trews for the last 10-ish years. When they asked me to be the photographer for their wedding on Wolfe Island it was a hearty “Fuck yes!” on my part.
I started the day with Emily and her girls at the downtown James Brett for hair and make up and we took the Ferry across to the General Wolfe to put the finishing touches on everyone before heading to the back side of the island to their cottage for the ceremony. Rob and the guys played a round of golf on the Island golf course nearby and relaxed at the cottage with some beers and laughs.
After the ceremony we loaded into the van and headed to the Wolfe Island Grill for an evening of rock and roll courtesy of Reuben DeGroot and His Band. Beers, sparklers and an amazing first dance song sung by bridesmaid Mindee and groomsman Colin (I think everyone at this wedding was a musician!) made this a hell of a party as the sun set over the city. Seriously …if you’ve never been to the Wolfe Island Grill for dinner as the sun sets you’re missing out on a killer view AND some amazeballs food.
The tears, the laughter, the high fives, the cheers …an incredible start to married life surrounded by friends and family and a party into the night that was on fire. Proud to call these two friends and be able to have been part of an amazing day.
Huge thanks to Gerry McGrath of GPM Photography for second shooting – some of the images below are his.
